Garga bair

Garga Bair is located less than a kilometer north of Trapezitsa Hill near Veliko Tarnovo and about 1.5 km southwest of the center of the village of Arbanassi. There used to be a slaughterhouse west of the hill, which is why flocks of garga used to hover over it, hence its name. In the 19th century, a Turkish fortification existed in the southwestern part of Garga Bair. From there you have a great view - Veliko Tarnovo, Tsarevets and Trapezitsa. The purpose of the fortification was to protect Tarnovo from the advancing Russian troops of General Gurko. The place is quite picturesque, you pass through a forest, then you get great views of Tsarevets, one of the meanders of the Yantra River, a panoramic view of the old capital, Vladika Bridge, the Balkan Mountains and Trapezitsa.

The Cradle of Love

The cradle, with a romantic name, is located on the rocky crown of Garga Bair. About 1.5 km from the centre of the old capital. The cradle is a wooden seat attached by metal chains and ropes to two tall trees. It faces southeast over the city. The place is quite picturesque, you pass through a forest, after it you can see great views of Tsarevets, one of the meanders of the Yantra River, panoramic views of the old capital, Vladika Bridge, the Balkan Mountains and Trapezitsa.
