The off-road tour "Shipka and Buzludzha" is a tour visiting various historical sites in the regions around the town of Shipka. The tour will take you to various sites in the region. The duration is 4 hours or 8 hours, conducted by car.
The tour can start from our base in the village Arbanassi or we can pick you up from a convenient location within Veliko Tarnovo or Arbanassi.
In the half-day walk with a duration of 4 hours you have the opportunity to visit the Shipka Monument and the Buzludzha Monument. They are one of the most famous and popular tourist destinations in Bulgaria. The trip to the sights lasts about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and is made along a scenic mountain road. At the historic Shipka Freedom Monument, you have about 30 minutes to enter and climb to its top. From there you can enjoy a stunning panoramic view. After the visit to Shipka, you head to the Buzludzha Monument, which is the largest ideological monument of the communist regime in Bulgaria, where you are again provided with about 30 minutes of rest to be able to explore and get a closer look at one of the symbols of Bulgaria's recent socialist past. We then head back to Veliko Tarnovo, where we drop you off at a convenient location.
In the all-day tour with a duration of 8 hours, the attractions are added: the Dryanovo Monastery "St. Michael the Archangel", Bacho Kiro Cave and the Ethnographic Open-Air Museum "Etar".
The area of the Dryanovo Monastery and the Bacho Kiro Cave are scheduled for about 1 hour to visit both attractions. Then head to the Ethnographic Outdoor Museum "Etar", which is the only outdoor museum of its kind aimed at a unique presentation of authentic Bulgarian culture, lifestyle and craftsmanship, where you again have about 1 hour rest, and have the opportunity for lunch in the area. Later on you head to the Shipka Monument as well as the Buzludzha Monument. After visiting them, we head back to Veliko Tarnovo, where we drop you off at a convenient location.
The tour is conducted in an air-conditioned passenger car.
